Arizona Christian University invites applications for a full-time position in Media and Broadcast Sports Production. This is a hybrid position between the university’s Department of Communication and its Athletic Department to begin in Fall 2018.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching one class per term in the university’s Department of Communication and English, including but not limited to basic multi-media production, advanced multi-media production, broadcast programming and similar courses. The position includes oversight of the department’s technical operation, including basic operation and upkeep of editing workstations, cameras, and functioning television studio. The position is also responsible for making recommendations on purchasing and acquisition of production assets.

Additionally, approximately 50% of the position includes oversight and production of the university athletic streamcasts. Arizona Christian University offers nineteen (19) intercollegiate sports programs, many of which are streamed live via Stretch Internet. This position requires the candidate to produce and oversee the streamcasts of the major sports, including but not limited to football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, and men’s and women’s soccer. Currently, the university carries a heavy streaming schedule of home games. The university also streams several visiting/neutral site contests for out of town teams. The hybrid nature of the position provides the opportunity for the candidate to train students academically in the classroom and then apply those skills to the field of broadcast and sports production as part of the Athletic Department’s streaming operations. The successful candidate will provide vision and guidance for nurturing and growing the entire streaming operation for the university.

Minimum qualifications include at least 18 hours of graduate credit earned in Communication, Mass Communication, or similar field. Experience in live television and/or sports production is a plus. Knowledge of various live studio operations and field equipment operations are essential. Arizona Christian University’s Communication major utilizes Apple hardware and Adobe Creative Suite/Creative Cloud applications. Expertise in Audition and Premiere is expected.  The Athletic Department utilizes Stretch Internet for its streaming portal.

This position requires a non-traditional work schedule. Weekend work will be frequent, but streamcasts diminish considerably during summer months. Outdoor work while streamcasting is typical. This position requires the employee to lift and carry light to heavy media production equipment.

The position is for a one-year appointment. Future years are dependent upon funding.

As a Christian university, it is necessary that all employees be in agreement with our purpose and goals. Commitment to the University’s Statement of Faith, ACU Core Commitments, and an active Christian faith is required.

Interested applicants should submit a completed Faculty Application, unofficial transcripts, resume and cover letter to human.resources@arizonachristian.edu.
