The Department of Communication & Visual Arts invites applications for an open rank professor in communication studies, beginning fall 2017.

The department seeks a candidate to teach foundational communication courses such as Public Speaking, Principles of Media, or Writing for the Media as well as basic audio and video production, photo and video editing and post-production techniques used in news, narrative, documentary, and/or mobile media. The successful candidate must have a proven commitment to teaching excellence and to advising student media. A MFA or Ph.D. in communication or a related field and professional media experience is required.

The candidate must possess thorough knowledge and working experience in such areas of media production as: non-linear editing, motion graphics, field and studio production, TV news writing, interactive media, mobile media, or multimedia storytelling. Preference will be given to candidates who can provide our students with experiential learning opportunities so that they can thrive in today’s multimedia landscape. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications.
