This prayer was offered at the end of Calvin’s exposition on Zechariah 7, where he reflects on the importance of listening to God’s word rather than merely performing religious rituals:
“Grant, Almighty God, that as thou hast been pleased to draw us this day by thy word, and to speak to us with so much kindness, we may not be deaf to thy voice, but be attentive and obedient, that our minds may be so renewed as to discern thy glory, and that we may thus submit ourselves to thee in true humility and obedience, that thy name may be glorified in us, and that we may so live as to be wholly devoted to thee through Christ our Lord. Amen.”
