We are pleased to announce that on Thursday, October 16, CCSN Senior Fellow and Western Washington University faculty Dr. Geri Forsberg received The Medium and The Light Award from the Marshall McLuhan Initiative, Inc. based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Winnipeg is the city Marshall McLuhan grew up in.

Dr. Forsberg not only received the award, but she gave two speeches during her time in Winnipeg. One speech was given at the University of Manitoba to approximately 150 political science students. The other speech was given at the awards ceremony at Kelvin High School; the high school McLuhan graduated from in 1928.

Geri was very excited to stay in the home Marshall grew up in. The home was recently purchased and designated as a historical sight. It will be converted into a center for McLuhan scholars to come and learn about McLuhan’s life and media theories.
