Prayer of Thanksgiving for Adoption, from Your Adopted Children
Let us pray.
Loving, God, for the many ways adoption has touched our lives here on earth,
We thank you.
For the joy brought to parents who have achieved the dream of a family through adoption,
We thank you.
For the special happiness added to families by an adopted brother, sister, cousin niece, nephew, or grandchild,
We offer our thanks.
For the comfort, security and love given to those who themselves were joined to their families by adoption,
We give you thanks.
For the many children in foster care who wait for their “forever families,”
We ask that you watch over them, give them hope, and fulfill their dreams of loving families,
For children around the world who have lost mothers and fathers because of disease, famine or war,
We ask that they be kept safe from harm, that they find comfort in knowing You, and that they some day may experience the special human connection we call family,
Finally, for mothers and father who made one the most difficult human decisions and chose to place their children in the loving arms of others,
We ask that You give them peace and the knowledge that their choice, however painful, was the source of ever-expanding love in the adoptive families created by their loss.
Because we have been chosen as Your adopted children, we understand and appreciate that gift of this special relationship and again offer our grateful thanks.
