The English Department of Calvin College seeks to fill a tenure-track position in journalism and writing to begin August 2017. We invite applications from individuals with experience in journalism, particularly multimedia journalism and digital storytelling, with preference given to those who can teach several of the following: news writing, feature writing, first-year composition, creative nonfiction, and storytelling with convergent media. Faculty are also expected to advise students, publish in scholarly and/or popular venues, and serve the mission of the department and college.

Qualifications | Required: a PhD or terminal degree with commensurate experience, a strong portfolio of publications, a passion for teaching undergraduates, and an active interest in integrating faith and profession (for details see http://www.calvin.edu/admin/provost/facdocs/). Calvin College seeks faculty members who affirm the Christian faith as expressed by the Reformed confessions and who have academic and personal qualifications for teaching and scholarship.

About English | We are a dynamic team of 16 full-time and 10 adjunct faculty. We have close to 200 student majors and offer majors and minors in Writing, Linguistics, Literature, English Education, and an interdisciplinary minor in journalism, all within a vigorous liberal arts context. We are committed to teaching and research, emphasizing integrative and interdisciplinary approaches, particularly with regard to the courses in media and design offered by other departments in the college. We require all students in the English and journalism programs to participate in internships. Our department houses the CalvinCenter for Faith and Writing and hosts the biennial Festival of Faith and Writing.
