The Department of Communication at Arkansas State University seeks to hire an assistant professor, non-tenure track, or instructor, of Strategic Communication-Social Media Management for a new 100% online Bachelor of Science in Strategic Communication-Social Media Management Emphasis program that will launch in fall of 2016.

The instructor will teach up to four classes per semester over two seven-week terms, advise students in the online program, and serve as a liaison between students and traditional faculty and staff. The program consists of 120 credit hours, which includes 35 General Education hours, 20 hours of communication major requirements, 21 hours of social media management emphasis courses, 6 hours of additional, required courses, 18-21 hours of minor courses with one of three choices (Political Science, Sociology, Criminology), and 14-17 additional hours. Students in the program will learn to use digital channels to promote brands, products, and services, among other objectives. Courses in the social media emphasis include social media in strategic communication, interactive advertising, social media management, and more. Ph.D. or Master’s degree in strategic communication or related field required.

The College of Media and Communication is composed of two departments, The Department of Communication and the Department of Media. The Department of Communication offers two degree programs, Strategic Communication and Communication Studies. The college also offers a MA in Communication Studies and MS in Mass Communication.
