Presentation Title: “The Role of Character in Communication”

Date: Wednesday, October 19     Time: 8-9 pm, EST

Description: “Speech is the mirror of the soul; as a man speaks, so is he” (Publius Syrus). The relationship between good moral character and good communication are inseparable. How might we define good character? How do we observe it in communication? What overlaps exist between concerns for character formation and the development of communication skills? This webinar draws from historical voices who call for character considerations as central to communication, notes philosophical intersections, and highlights practical topics to exemplify the need to embed character concerns in communication studies.
