The Department of Communication Arts at Union University is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Communication Arts position beginning Fall 2016. Rank assignment will be commensurate with education and experience. This position includes a competitive salary and benefit package.

The Communication Arts Department is a vibrant and creative community with more than 100 majors in Public Relations, Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, Digital Media Communications, Speech, and Theater, as well as minors in Photojournalism and Film Studies. The department houses an active Public Relations Student Society of America chapter, the Bulldog Communications Group student-run firm, Cardinal & Cream campus news source, Jackson 24/7 live daily newscast, Union University Debate Team, Union Film Society, and Union University Players.

Position Description: Candidates should have a strong background and professional experience related to a variety of areas in mass communication. Experience with design, video and film, and photography is desired. Candidates must have a Christian commitment and the ability to integrate the Christian faith with traditional coursework. Preferred course assignments would include lower- and upper-level courses in photojournalism, publication and interactive design, and/or media production. General faculty responsibilities will include student advising, committee assignments, and other responsibilities assigned by the chair.

Qualifications: Applicants with an earned PhD or MFA in Communication or a related field are preferred. ABD candidates will be considered. Effective teaching experience, evidence of scholarly potential, and a passion for teaching are essential. Practical experience in the field is preferred.
